Ancelotti: We didn´t play our football

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti said his side lacked killer instinct after a 1-1 draw with Everton extended their winless run four games.

The Blues let in a late equaliser from Jermaine Beckford to hand Everton a share of the points at Stamford Bridge and slip further behind Arsenal and Manchester United in the title race.

Ancelotti said his side uncharacteristically played impatient football, which allowed the Toffees back into the match.

“We weren’t able to play our football. The first half was good, we went 1-0 up, but the second half was poor,” Ancelotti told Sky Sports.

“We didn’t play our football we just played long ball and that isn’t our aim.”

“Sometimes we control the game but we have to make sure we don’t lose our way. We have to play always to the best level.”

“It is difficult to understand why this happened in the second half, but it did and we have to try and find out why.”

Ancelotti dismissed any doubts regarding the fitness of key striker Didier Drogba, who looked inhibited at times with a slight groin complaint.

“It was a little problem and he (Drogba) played the whole game. I think he will be ready for the next game,” Ancelotti said.

Everton manager David Moyes said he felt his side deserved something out of the game, after conceding a horrendous penalty in the first half courtesy of a misguided Phil Neville back pass.

“We needed to show a bit of determination, a bit of guts and we certainly showed that,” Moyes told Sky Sports.

“We had to hang on a bit in the first half but we gave away a really poor goal. But I thought in the second half we had the better of it and are a little bit disappointed that we didn’t get more. But a draw here isn’t a bad result.”
