The Barclays Golden Boot Award has gone to Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka.
The Award is made annually to the first Premier League player who scores ten goals in the season.
In addition to the award he also received ₤1 000 as a donation to the charity of his choice.
Anelka’s ten goals came against Portsmouth, Stoke City, Aston Villa, Hull City, Sunderland (3), Blackburn Rovers (2) and FC Girondins Bordeaux in the UEFA Champions League.
The French international striker has played fifty three matches for his country in which he managed twelve goals. He has also done the rounds at a number of clubs across Europe. After beginning his career at Paris Saint Germain he joined Arsenal as a seventeen year old. From there Real Madrid, back to Paris Saint Germain, on loan to Liverpool, Manchester City, Fenerbahce, Bolton Wanderers and now finally at Chelsea.
