Both leaders Anderlecht and second-placed Club Brugge earned hard-fought away victories in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday.

Anderlecht headed for a comfortable win over Cercle Brugge with goals from Jonathan Legear in the 38th minute and Mbark Boussoufa in the 43rd, but when Oleg Iachtchouk pulled one back for Cercle with ten minutes to go, the Brussels outfit had to stay focused to avoid an equaliser.

Instead, it was Nicolas Frutos to end the away side’s doubt by scoring for 1-3 in the last minute.

Club Brugge secured a narrow win at Lokeren, where former AZ Alkmaar player Ryan Donk scored the only goal after 52 minutes. Lokeren had been a man down since Ibrahima Gueye’s red card in the 34th minute.

Anderlecht maintain their five-points lead over Brugge, who in turn are five points ahead of third-placed Germinal Beerschot.
