(GSM) – Belgian champions Anderlecht again confirmed that they are the best team of the season with a 4-2 win over Gent on Sunday.

Gent could have used a win to take distance from third-placed Club Brugge but faced a much stronger Anderlecht in the opening phase.

Jelle Van Damme put the Brussels outfit ahead after less than two minutes and Matiaz Suarez made it 2-0 another ten minutes later. When Thomas Chatelle hit the target for 3-0 after just 15 minutes of play, the match was all but decided.

But Gent did recover in the second half. Elimane Coulibaly pulled one back in the 63rd minute and Christophe Grondin gave the visitors some more hope six minutes later.

Anderlecht had the final say however as Guillaume Gillet netted for 4-2 in the 71st minute.

Gent do remain in second place but with three games to go, the gap with Brugge is just one point.
