Anderlecht’s sporting director ‘glad’ Markovic deal didn’t happen

Anderlecht’s sporting director Luc Devroe has claimed that he’s glad the club didn’t sign Lazar Markovic on a permanent deal earlier this summer. There was a deal in place for him to head over to Belgium, but Markovic wound up turning it down. Markovic spent some time on loan with Anderlecht last season, as the Serbian continues to struggle to break into the Liverpool first team.

He’s been at Anfield since back in 2014, but hasn’t really been awarded a legitimate opportunity to shine with the Reds. Anderlecht seemed as if it’d be a good direction for him to go in, but after deciding against it, it appears as if Devroe has gone down the ‘bitter’ route in what he’s said about the matter.

At the age of 24 there’s still plenty of time for Markovic to fulfil his potential, but he’ll have to wait until January before making any kind of permanent move.
