Manchester United’s Brazilian midfielder Anderson has inked a new deal that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2015.
The 22-year-old has struggled to find his best form since his 2007 move from Portuguese giants Porto and there had been speculation he would be moved on when his current deal ended.
But Anderson’s form has impressed Sir Alex Ferguson enough in recent weeks that he has been rewarded with a new contract, and the manager believes United fans are yet to see the best of the midfielder.
“We are delighted Anderson has signed a new contract,” Ferguson told the club’s official website.
“Anderson has developed tremendously since joining the club and he has fantastic potential at only 22 years of age, he is going to be a really top player.”
Anderson said he was delighted to put pen to paper and end the rumours about a departure from the English Premier League leaders.
“This is the best club to be at and I would like to thank everyone for the great support I have received over the years,” Anderson said.
“I am looking forward to winning many more trophies with this club and I am so pleased to have signed a new contract.”
