Marseille star Andre Ayew is widely expected to leave the club by the end of the season, L’Equipe can reveal.
The highly rated forward has entered the final year of his contract at Stade Velodrome, and even though he remains a very important player for OM, club chiefs are unlikely to offer him a contract extension.
Namely, the 24-year-old currently earns around €4 million gross per season and with the club management looking to trim down the wage bill, they are not in a position to offer the Ghanaian a new lucrative deal.
Therefore, they will probably be forced to cash in on the highly rated footballer in January, or they might hold on to him until the summer if Marseille should have any chance of mounting a serious title challenge.
OM have opened up a three-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 standings after seven fixtures and they are available 12/1 to lift the league trophy for the first time since 2010.
