Andre Gomes set for Barcelona departure

According to a recent report from AS, Spanish giants Barcelona are set to complete the sale of Andre Gomes over the course of the next few weeks. The 25 year old midfielder has been at the Nou Camp since back in 2016, and has been on loan with Premier League side Everton since last year. The Toffees are indeed the favourites to sign him on a permanent basis, although there are reports of another interested party – although the name of that club has yet to be confirmed.

Gomes, who made his senior debut for Portugal back in 2014, has impressed during his spell in English football. It’d be considered a pretty big scoop for Everton if they were able to secure this transfer on a more permanent basis, but as we’ve seen so many times over the years, nothing is guaranteed in this game.

Everton are currently in the running for the final Europa League spot in the Premier League this season.
