Italian giants Inter Milan are desperately trying to lure Andrea Pirlo back to Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, according to Sport Mediaset’s Bruno Longhi.
While the veteran midfielder only left Serie A in the summer to join New York City FC, the Nerazzurri coach Roberto Mancini believes the highly rated footballer might consider returning to Italy.
As a result, he has been courting Pirlo on the phone for several weeks now, offering the 36-year-old an opportunity to return to the club where he spent four years between 1998 and 2001.
The Italy international has somewhat struggled for form in MLS, making a total of 13 appearances for his new side.
Pirlo, nonetheless, remains an important member of the Italy national team and he has a good chance of making the Euro 2016 squad.
He has played a key role in helping Juventus lift four Serie A trophies in a row, having joined on a free transfer from AC Milan.
