Swedish international defender Andreas Granqvist moved on to confirm interest from Premier League giants Manchester United with Afton Bladet claiming that the experienced 33-year-old could move to Old Trafford in January.
The Red Devils are reportedly eyeing a short-term deal with the Swedish captain who put in a series of impressive performances during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia this summer.
The Helsinborgs defender has been contacted by Manchester United representatives who have made enquiries about his availability.
Granqvist took it to after the Sunday’s win over Falkenbergs to confirm the rumours linking him to United.
“I am honoured to be linked with such a large club. There is indeed interest,” Granqvist said before making sure he did not say a move will definitely happen in January.
“If there is a concrete offer in January then both the club and I will accept that, but that is currently not the case,” he concluded.
Manchester United have largely struggled in defensive department and Jose Mourinho is said to be looking to sign Granqvist on a short-term deal that would see him move to England until the end of the 2018/19 season.
