Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend has said that he does not think that Dele Alli will leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
Alli has been making the headlines in recent weeks, with speculation rife on the future of the England international midfielder.
According to The Telegraph, French giants Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing the 24-year-old from Spurs this summer.
The Ligue 1 champions, who reached the final of the Champions League last season, reportedly want to secure the services of the England international on a loan deal, with the midfielder himself claimed to be open to an exit from Spurs.
Alli was left out of Tottenham’s last two matchday squads, and the performances over the past two seasons of the former Milton Keynes Dons youngster have left much to be desired.
Townsend played with Alli at Tottenham, and the Palace winger believes that Alli – who is rated at 4/5 by Betfair to be at PSG by the time the summer transfer window closes next month – will not leave the North London club.
The former Newcastle United winger said on talkSPORT (9:10am, September 23, 2020): “If these reports are to be believed then obviously PSG are one of the best clubs in the world. But I don’t think he will [leave].
“I think it’s probably the agent seeing that he’s got jobs from a few and is just dropping his name out into the media to see how Spurs react to it. I think it’s another test from Mourinho. You saw in the documentary how much he does like Dele. Maybe he’s not getting what he wants from him, at the minute, and he feels he has to take drastic measures.
“He has to drop him for a few games to see how he would react. Like Jose Mourinho has done many times in his career and most recently to Ndombele, who has come back into the side and played really well – I am sure Dele Alli will come out the other side to the Dele Alli that we saw at times last season.”
