Watford are on the verge of signing Angelo Ogbonna in the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano. The well-known and well-respected Italian journalist has claimed that Ogbonna, who is a free agent at the moment after leaving West Ham United at the end of the season, has verbally agreed a deal with Watford.
Romano wrote on X: Angelo Ogbonna set to join Watford on free transfer as deal has been verbally agreed with Italian CB.
“As reported by @androofrench, he’s expected to be the replacement for Wesley Hoedt who’s moving to Saudi Pro League.”
Ogbonna was on the books of West Ham from 2015 until 2024 and was a big player for the Hammers during his time at the London club. The 36-year-old Italian centre-back played as many as 201 times for West Ham in the Premier League. Ogbonna scored eight goals, gave one assist and kept 45 clean sheets in those games.
