Antognoni wants Prandelli to make difference

(GSM) – Giancarlo Antognoni believes new Italy boss Cesare Prandelli will build a strong team after a humiliating World Cup exit under Marcello Lippi.

Slovakia secured a 3-2 win over Italy on Thursday and dumped the defending champions Italy out of the World Cup 2010.

“Prandelli will give us a young Nazionale ahead of the European Championship,” said the Viola legend.

“He’ll stick with the youngsters that are already in the squad and he’ll add more.”

The Viola coach Cesare Prandelli has signed a four-year contract to take over as Italy boss when Marcello Lippi steps down after the World Cup in South Africa.

“It was a horrible elimination,” the 56-year-old said.

“We should have at least got past the first round. It may have been right to have doubts about how far we could go, but the first round…”
