Atletico Madrid superstar striker Antoine Griezmann will remain with Los Colchineros despite increased interest from La Liga champions Barcelona, Spanish outlet ABC reports.
The Catalans have been strongly linked with a move for the French forward over the past couple of month. The Spanish press have been claiming that Barcelona were prepared to meet his €100 million release clause in order to bring him to Camp Nou but the latest reports have it that Griezmann has decided to remain at Atletico.
Griezmann has shrugged of all speculation regarding his future ahead of the World Cup claiming he was ‘happy and full of confidence’.
The French forward’s contract with Atletico Madrid runs until 2022 whereas his release clause is set to be doubled to €200 from 1st July 2018.
That’s the main reason why Barcelona were rushing to get a deal done as soon as possible and wrap up his signature before the World Cup.
