Antonio Conte wants Nemanja Matic at Napoli

Napoli head coach Antonio Conte is keen on a deal for Lyon midfielder Nemanja Matic, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that Conte wants to strengthen his midfield and has told the Napoli board to get a deal done for Matic in the January transfer window.

Matic has been on the books of Lyon since January 2024 when he joined from Rennes. The 36-year-old former Chelsea and Manchester United defensive midfielder has done well for the French club so far. Matic has made 10 starts and one substitute appearance in Ligue 1 and has made three starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Europa League so far this season.

Napoli, whose goalkeeper Alex Meret has been linked with Manchester United, are second in the Serie A table at the moment with 35 points from 16 matches. Conte’s side are only two points behind leaders Atalanta and are four points ahead of third-placed Inter Milan, who have played 14 games.
