Anzhi reject Ronaldo link; Inter not giving up on Porto star

Anzhi reject Ronaldo link

Anzhi sporting director Roberto Carlos has rubbished reports linking the Russian club with a move for unsettled Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese international recently revealed he was not happy at Santiago Bernabeu and has since been linked with a number of high-profile clubs.

Anzhi Makhachkala sporting director Roberto Carlos was spotted in Madrid on Sunday and many believed he was in town to negotiate a possible deal for Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, the former Real Madrid defender says there is no truth in the speculations.

“A lot of people are asking me: ‘Have you come to sign Cristiano?’” Roberto Carlos explained to Spanish La Liga’s official website.

“And people think so because of Suleyman (Kerimov, Anzhi owner), because of everything Anzhi are doing, and because Zenit signed Hulk and the other player.

“Suleyman is on the ball. Cristiano is happy here. And we’re thinking more about next season, looking for top level players.”

The Russian Premier League club were surprisingly inactive in the summer transfer window, although they did manage to sign Lassana Diarra on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

Inter not giving up on Porto star

Portuguese newspaper A Bola understands that Inter Milan are still showing interest in Porto midfielder Fernando.

The Neroazzurri have long been following the Brazilian midfielder and they were expected to sign the player last summer.

They instead decided to pursue other targets and ended up signing Gabi Mudingayi and Walter Gargano.

Seeing that both players have arrived on loan deals, A Bola reports that Inter will return for Fernando next January.

The 25-year-old has long ago expressed his desire to leave Porto for greener pastures, but the Portuguese giants have yet to receive an offer they cannot refuse.

Fernando has spent last three years at Dragao Stadium, and has scored one goal in 95 league appearances.

The player is, nonetheless, regarded as one of the most talented holding midfielders in Europe and it is no wonder Inter are not yet ready to give up on him.

Oriol Romeu linked to Valencia

Valencia are pondering a January move for Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu, Spanish newspaper Superdeporte has revealed.

With David Albelda nearing the end of his playing days, los Che are looking to sign another central midfielder in January so that he will have been ready to replace the veteran midfielder by the time he decides to hangs up his boots.

Superdeporte reveals that Chelsea youngster Oriol Romeu is on top of their wishlist, with los Che pondering a January move for the player.

The 20-year-old was signed for €5 million from Barcelona last summer, but he has seen his first team chances very limited after Roberto Di Matteo took over the reigns.

The player is now looking to leave Stamford Bridge in search of first team football, and the Blues would probably jump at the opportunity to cash in on their fringe player.

It is important to note that Barcelona still have the option to buy the player back for €15 million, but the Catalans are not interested in taking the player back to Camp Nou.
