While Napoli might have made real history last season as they got their hands on a first domestic crown since 1990, the Italian heavyweights have endured a public crisis this time around. While Empoli might have eventually clung to their top-flight status last season, Saturday’s guests are at the heart of another Serie A relegation scrap. Making an immediate return to losing ways last week as they suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Lecce, Davide Nicola’s men have now lost five of their previous six appearances. Marking their return from March’s international break with a routine 2-0 loss against runaway leaders Inter Milan, Empoli have also failed to collect a clean sheet in any of their previous nine consecutive showdowns.

Although Chelsea might be pencilled in as a real underdog when they travel to Wembley this weekend, the Blues do appear to have turned a recent corner. Making a major statement earlier in the week as they stormed their way to a 6-0 romp against Everton in west London, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are unbeaten in all of their previous eight appearances across all competitions. Finding a real clinical edge in the final third, the former Tottenham boss has also seen his squad register 26 goals on that eight-match unbeaten flurry.
