Aquilani ready for Milan odyssey

Alberto Aquilani believes he can enjoy an illustrious career at the San Siro as he embarks on a new career path with AC Milan.

The 27-year-old midfielder joined the Italian champions on a loan deal from Liverpool in the recent transfer period, and Milan will be obliged to buy him permanently should he play 25 or more games across the season.

But Aquilani hopes to stay for many years as he is growing tired of moving around every close-season after his spell at Juventus last term.

“I want to win something important with Milan. I have been changing teams for three years now and I want to affirm myself at Milan by staying for a long time,” Aquilani was quoted as saying by the Corriere dello Sport.

A season-opening home clash against Lazio on Friday will see old rivalries renewed for the former Roma player, but Aquilani is ready for battle.

“The game against Lazio will always be special for me even though it has been years since I played in the Rome derby,” he added.

“Lazio are a nice team, then we have Barcelona (next Tuesday in the Champions League).”
