Turkish giants Galatasaray have made an official approach to Barcelona regarding midfielder Arda Turan.
Turkish newspaper Hurriyet suggests Galatasaray president himself has opened the negotiations with the Catalan giants, asking for the former Turkish international to be loaned out to Istanbul during the 2017/18 season.
Galatasaray are prepared to invest €4 million to cover the player’s yearly wages and have already prepared a captain’s armband for their former key man.
Arda Turan won a league title, a Turkish Cup trophy and a Super Cup during his five year with the Lions from 2006 to 2011, attracting interest from Atletico Madrid who brought him to Spain in a €12 million deal.
The 30-year-old midfielder never quite managed to impose himself as a first-team regular at Barcelona and is not expected to be given a prominent role under the new manager Ernesto Valverde.
Turan himself is thought to be keen to remain at the club and fight for his chance, but Galatasaray are also expected to continue with their interest for their former star.
