Are Barcelona planning a Premier League ransack this summer?

Suffering Champions League heartbreak last month and already accepting that they will be relinquishing their La Liga crown this season, Barcelona face what is a crucial summer behind the scenes in Catalonia.

However, with it now confirmed that Xavi will be staying put at the Nou Camp after making a U-turn on his decision to step down, it appears that the Spanish giants are putting together their summer wishlist.

With it only a matter of days until the summer transfer window officially opens up, we have taken a look at three of the Premier League superstars that have been linked with a high-profile move to Barca.

Bernardo Silva – Manchester City

Although Manchester City might have eventually managed to keep hold of Bernardo Silva last summer, there has once again been plenty of speculation that the one-time Monaco starlet will be granted a move away from the Etihad at the end of the season.

While the Portuguese international might have cemented his spot as a fan favourite in the blue half of Manchester, his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026 and Pep Guardiola’s men could be tempted to cash in on their midfield star.

With suggestions that Silva had a release clause included in his most recent contract with the defending Premier League champions, this is not the first time that Silva has been heavily linked with a move to Catalonia.

With that suspected release close reportedly in the region of £50million, Barcelona have been put on red alert and are starting to believe that they can finally complete what would be a blockbuster move to the Nou Camp.

Watching the duo of Joao Cancelo and Ilkay Gundogan complete their own respective moves to Barca last year, the two European giants have a working relationship behind the scenes and it is thought that a deal could be completed this summer.

Alexander Isak – Newcastle

Although Alexander Isak might have only arrived at St. James’ Park last season, the Swedish International has enjoyed a remarkable free-scoring run among England’s elite.

Spearheading Newcastle’s iconic Champions League charge last year and once again receiving a string of plaudits this time around, the former Real Sociedad striker has cemented his spot as one of Europe’s most clinical marksmen.

Notching 19 Premier League strikes in his 26 appearances this season and battling it out with Manchester City record-breaker Erling Harland in the race for this year’s Golden Boot, it is no secret that Isak has attracted a host of public admirers.

With Eddie Howe’s side dealing with some worrying FFP issues behind the scenes at St. James’ Park, there has been plenty of speculation that the Magpies must sell some of their most valuable assets this summer.

Although it might have been suggested over the past week that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Isak’s current situation and are weighing up a sensastion swoop, The Sun are reporting that Barcelona have chucked their hat in the ring.

Amadou Onana – Everton

While Everton might have opened April in the midst of another Premier League relegation scrap, the Toffees have continued on a stunning turning in fortunes as they skyrocketed away from a bottom-three tussle.

However, although Sean Dyche’s side might have won four of their previous five Premier League appearances, it is no secret that the Blues are dealing with a string of financial issues.

Already hit with two separate points deductions this season, Everton know that they will be forced to cash in on a handful of their first-team stars in an attempt to balance the books at Goodison Park.

Alongside continued speculation that defensive talisman Jarrad Branthwaite is attracting real interest from Manchester United, it appears that Amadou Onana will be set for a summer move away from the blue half of Merseyside.

With it suggested that Everton have placed a £50million price tag on the Belgium international midfielder, TEAMtalk are reporting that Barcelona have made their intentions clear and are planning a summer swoop.
