Competition: International friendly
Market: Argentina to win against Croatia
Odds: 2/9 @ William Hill
Argentina are looking to continue their impressive form under new manager Gerardo Martino when they come up against Croatia in this week’s international friendly. The South American outfit, who finished runners-up in this summer’s World Cup, most recently beat Hong Kong 7-0.
Following the World Cup, they beat eventual winners Germany 4-2 in a friendly too. They welcome back Juventus striker Carlos Tevez, who was ousted from the team back in 2011, and he will be raring to play. In 2014, Argentina’s form has been superb, winning nine and drawing one of their 12 games played in all competitions, and William Hill are giving odds of 2/9 for Martino’s side to win against Croatia tonight as a result.
The Croats are a strong side themselves, but they have a Euro 2016 qualifier to come that will mean they aren’t likely to field their strongest side against Argentina. The result means little for Niko Kovac’s men, and they don’t have the best record against elite opponents – losing to Brazil & Mexico in the World Cup.
