Argentina 3/4 to beat Russia in Saturday’s international friendly

Competition: International friendly

Market: Argentina to beat Russia

Odds: 3/4 @ Bet365

The international fixtures return this week as club football must take a break following an incredibly exciting and fiercely contested start to the campaigns across the world. While many are hugely disappointed that they will not see their local team running out onto the pitch this week, they will instead be treated to a number of very interesting games, with World Cup hosts Russia welcoming Argentina.

Russia did not need to lift a finger on the pitch as they qualified for the World Cup by virtue of the fact that they are hosting it. However, this has too often been something that has caused the host nation to start slowly in their group, meaning that progressing to the knock-out stages is made all the more difficult. Russia should use these friendlies as a great chance to play against some of the best sides in the world, and they should look to be as competitive as possible in the matches, as they have not been a part of any kind of high-pressure games in the build-up to next summer.

Argentina battled to an automatic spot at the World Cup, but it was hardly easy. Brazil topped the group with 41 points, while Argentina came in third with 28 points in a very tight group, with second-placed Uruguay and eighth-place Ecuador separated by just 11 points. Just 19 goals was a paltry return on their scoring, especially when considering the talent at their disposal. With this in mind, they will want to lay down a marker and beat the tournament hosts at home, and Bet365 are giving the visitors odds of 3/4 to win.
