(GSM) – Argentinian side Arsenal failed to take advantage of their rivals’ slip-ups and were held to a goalless draw themselves in Sunday’s home match with Newells Old Boys.

After San Lorenzo lost 2-0 at Colon on Saturday, Arsenal had a chance to climb from fourth to third place in the Primera Division.

But at their own Julio Humberto Grondona stadium, Arsenal failed to make a difference and ended up sharing the points with Newells in a scoreless draw.

Arsenal are joined in fourth place by River Plate, who drew 1-1 with Quilmes in Sunday’s late game.

The Buenos Aires giants could have ended the day in shared second place after Hugo Pavone’s opening goal in the 47th minute, but Miguel Caneo silenced the home crowd at the Monumental stadium with a 92nd-minute equaliser.
