(GSM) – Arsenal failed to take the lead in the Argentinian Primera Division, losing 1-0 at Buenos Aires giants River Plate.

After Velez Sarsfield dropped points on Saturday, a win at River would have been enough for Arsenal to jump to the top of the table.

The first half at the Monumental stadium went by without goals, but the home side did find the target in the 74th minute with Rogelio Funes directing the ball past keeper Campestrini.

Both teams had a player sent off late on with Roberto Pereira of River Plate and Pablo Aguilar of Arsenal receiving red cards.

Estudiantes, who beat Racing Club 2-0 late on Saturday, now share the lead with Velez Sarsfield and River Plate but have a better goal record and a game in hand.
