Diego Maradona’s Argentina came back from behind to beat Guus Hiddink’s Russia 3-2 in an international friendly on Wednesday.

Russia started well with Igor Semshov sending a shot past keeper Mariano Andujar in the 18th minute.

But the away side replied with the equaliser from Sergio Aguero just before the break, for substitute Lisandro Lopez to make it 2-1 shortly after.

Jesus Datalo put the crown on his debut when scoring for 3-1 on the hour mark and Roman Pavlyuchenko’s goal for 3-2 with 11 minutes to go wasn’t enough for the hosts to snatch a draw.

Russia continue their World Cup qualifying campaign against Liechtenstein on September 5, while Argentina face arch rivals Brazil on the same day.
