(GSM) – Sunday’s Clausura match between bitter rivals River Plate and Boca Juniors had to be stopped after 10 minutes on Sunday due to heavy rainfall.

The two sides both needed Sunday’s match at La Bombonera to round into form after poor results in the first half of the spring tournament in Argentina.

The match kicked off at its scheduled time, but rainfall was such that players could not see. In addition, the pitch was subject to being ripped apart, forcing arbiter Héctor Baldassi to leave the match abandoned.

The game will be picked up from the point where it was stopped, but the Argentina FA have not announced when that will be.

Both sides currently sit in the second half of the Clausura standings, with Boca third from bottom.
