Argentine playmaker Marcelo Gallardo has completed his switch from River Plate to Uruguayan club Nacional. The former Monaco and DC United star has signed a one year contract with Nacional with an option for an extension.

Gallardo is expected to fill the void left by Angel Morales’ departure to Huracan.

The 34 year old Gallardo started his career with River Plate and spent seven years with the club before joining Monaco in 1999. He was with the Principality club till 2003 before rejoining River. He then had short spells with PSG in France and DC United in the United States before returning to Los Millonarios last year.
