Young Argentine forward Eduardo Salvio has officially completed his transfer from Lanus to Spanish club Atletico Madrid. Los Colchoneros have signed the Argentine for a reported 10 million euro fee and he has signed a five and a half year contract with the capital outfit.
Atletico were in the market for attacking reinforcements after Florent Sinama Pongolle and Maxi Rodriguez left for Sporting Lisbon and Liverpool respectively in the winter market.
Salvio, who is only 19, can play both as a winger and a striker, is Atletico’s second signing of the 2010 winter market after midfielder Tiago, who has arrived on loan from Juventus. He has already earned two caps for Argentina at international level.
Atletico are 11th in La Liga currently and will face Getafe in the league this Sunday.
