AS Roma have completed the signing of forward Ezequiel Ponce from Newell’s Old Boys, the Argentine side revealed via their Twitter account.
The Giallorossi acted quickly to beat Tottenham and few other top European sides to the signature of the talented youngster, who underwent a medical in Rome last week.
It is believed Roma paid around €5 million for 60 percent of the contract, while the player was immediately loaned back to Newell’s, where he will stay until December.
Ezequiel Ponce, 17, exploded onto the biggest stage last season, making 17 league appearances for the club and scoring 4 goals.
He in turn missed the start of the new campaign through injury and made his only appearance of the season in a goalless draw with Lanus at the start of December.
Ponce is widely regarded as one of South America’s hottest prospects, although he will face stiff competition for starting places at Stadio Olimpico.
