The championship in Argentina remains undecided as San Lorenzo, Boca Juniors and Tigre all won their matches on Sunday and a three-way play-off will be needed to decide this year’s Apertura.
San Lorenzo had the toughest task of the three, playing away to Copa Sudamericana semi-finalists Argentinos Juniors. But the visitors did what they had to do, with Bergessio scoring the only goal on seven minutes.
Boca Juniors hosted Colon de Santa Fe in what would be a highly entertaining match. At La Bombonera, the hosts built a comfortable 3-0 lead with two goals from Figueroa and one from Riquelme, but Colon almost went on to cause an upset.
Torres netted for 3-1 in the 42nd minute and Valdemarin made it 3-2 eight minutes after the break. Boca continued to create the better chances though and held on to their lead to take the three points.
CA Tigre needed only one goal to beat Banfield, with Morel scoring what ended up being the winner on 39 minutes.
San Lorenzo, Boca and Tigre all have 39 points after 19 games and the Argentinian FA will have to come up with play-off scheme to point out which side is to lift the trophy.
Lanus, who began this day at two points from the three leaders, beat San Martin de Tucuman 1-0 thanks to an 83rd-minute goal from Ledesma but are no longer candidates to the title.
