Dutch winger Arjen Robben will be missing his team’s first Euro 2008 match with Italy on Monday as result of a groin injury.

Robben, who has been in good shape recently, suffered the injury during Saturday’s training session.

“First of all, it’s a big disappointment for Arjen himself. But for the team as well it’s a problem, especially since we had already lost Ryan Babel for that position,” said Netherlands coach Marco van Basten.

“We’ll work really hard on his recovery now and hope that he’ll be of importance to us soon.”
