Marko Arnautovic has completed a move from West Ham United to Shangai SIPG, according to Sky Sports.
The Austria international has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium for several transfer windows now, but until now the Hammers had always succeeded in convincing him to stay. Now, however, it seems they’ve had enough of his antics in trying to force a move away, and it was reported a few days ago that he had “burnt the bridges” and that nobody at the club wanted him to stay anymore.
The feeling was so strong that they were apparently willing to part ways with him for a sum much less than what they believe is his actual transfer value, and they agreed a deal with the Chinese Super League side which would see them receive €25 million in compensation for the 30-year-old forward. He underwent the medical over the weekend and the deal is apparently set to be officially confirmed some time this week.
West Ham have reportedly chosen Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez as a replacement for Arnautovic, and are preparing to activate the Uruguayan’s buyout clause set at €50 million.
