Werder Bremen forward Marko Arnautovic has rejected a chance to join Celtic, according to his official representative.
Bild has learned that the Bhoys have submitted a €4 million bid for the player’s services, while offering the Austrian a four-year deal worth €2 million per campaign.
However, the forward didn’t even allow the club chiefs to consider the proposal given that he did not seem to find the Scottish giants attractive enough.
“Marko will not be moving there. I have already informed Celtic manager of the rejection,” agent Roger Wittmann explained to Bild.
After his proposed move to West Ham also fell through, the Austria international finds himself in a difficult situation as he is no longer considered a regular starter at Weserstadion.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a very successful season on personal level last term, managing 5 goals and 6 assists in 26 Bundesliga matches, but his off the pitch problems ended up costing him a starting berth.
Despite falling from grace at Werder, Arnautovic has kept his place in the national team, having played full 90 minutes in every one of Austria’s 6 World Cup qualifiers.
