Arsenal 1/4 to beat Newcastle in Saturday’s Premier League encounter

Competition: Premier League

Market: Arsenal to beat Newcastle

Odds: 1/4 @ Bet365

The Premier League continues to gather pace as the hectic festive period begins to take effect on England and Wales’ top teams. Every side has a huge chance to pick up some vital points over December, but a bad month will often see a team in relative safety immersed in danger after struggling to pick up points. With all of this in mind, Arsenal host Newcastle on Saturday.

Arsenal have been struggling in recent weeks as they have found wins hard to come by. In their last three they have not won, drawing twice and losing once, which has seen the Gunners fall down to seventh, while they are a mammoth 19 points short of Manchester City at the top of the table. Incredibly, the side is closer to bottom-club Swansea than they are to City. Something clearly needs to change, and Arsene Wenger will be looking for a positive performance against Newcastle after they were held to a hugely disappointing 0-0 draw by West Ham.

Newcastle have been awful recently and they are currently in free-fall in the table. In their last five games they have picked up just one point, while their season tally stands at 15, meaning they are a point above Crystal Palace in 18th. 16 goals scored is a fairly good return, but they have conceded 26 times already, meaning they must tighten up in defence if they are to survive this season. Their trip to face Arsenal is likely to only hold a tough contest though, and we are backing the Gunners with odds of 1/4 from Bet365.
