Arsenal returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Monday evening, as they got the better of Newcastle United 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in North London.

Mikel Arteta’s side headed into the match against Newcastle on the back of a goalless draw with Crystal Palace at home in the league.

After a goalless first half on Monday evening, Thomas Partey found Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a long ball, and the 31-year-old striker did not make any mistake in finding the back of the net.

Bukayo Saka doubled the advantage for the Gunners 10 minutes later after being teed up by attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.

Aubameyang doubled his tally and secured the three points for the home team on 77 minutes after turning in a low cross from Cedric Soares.

The win against Newcastle means that Arsenal are now 10th in the Premier League table with 27 points from 19 matches and are rated at 16/1 by Betfair to finish in the Champions League places this season.

Emile Smith Rowe is a rising star

Mesut Ozil may not be at the club any longer, but Arsenal fans have a new attacking midfielder who can take the team forward. Emile Smith Rowe has been playing well in recent weeks, and the 20-year-old as superd against Newcastle. According to WhoScored, Smith Rowe created four chances, had a pass accuracy of 87.3%, took 59 touches, attempted one dribble, and put in one cross.

Newcastle United are dire

Newcastle United are not as good a team as Arsenal, but the Magpies were simply not at the races at the Emirates Stadium on Monday evening. Steve Bruce’s side could not really trouble the Gunners defensively and looked disjointed at the back. According to BBC Sport, Newcastle took only four shots compared to Arsenal’s 20, and only one of them was on target. Manager Steve Bruce is not popular among the fans, and he has to do something to get them on side.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back in form

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice against Newcastle, and both goals were well taken and showed the Gabon international’s composure. The 31-year-old is not having the best of seasons and is struggling for goals, but his brace against the Magpies will have boosted his confidence. Arsenal fans will hope that the former Borussia Dortmund star now builds on his heroics against the Gunners and continues to bang in the goals.
