Competition: Premier League
Market: Arsenal win
Odds: 4/6 @ 888sport
Hoping to build off of their Anfield victory in midweek, Arsenal will turn their attention back to Premier League duties when Sheffield United come to North London on Sunday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Arsenal might have seen Liverpool end their 100% start to the season on Monday night, the Gunners did manage to pick up some Merseyside revenge in midweek. Booking their spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s EFL Cup thanks to penalties victory against the defending champions, there is no doubt that Mikel Arteta’s side have made a string of improvements since appointing Pep Guardiola’s former right-hand man last year. Already claiming both the FA Cup and Community Shield titles at an empty Wembley over the summer, it is also well worth keeping an eye out for a red-hot Alexandre Lacazette on Sunday afternoon. Despite missing that glorious chance at Anfield on Monday, the former Lyon ace did once again get himself on the scoresheet and has now found the net in each of Arsenal’s opening Premier League matchups so far this season.
As for the visitors, signing off the extended 2019/2020 campaign in worrying fashion, Sheffield United now firmly find themselves in the midst of a worrying rut. Left heartbroken last week after watching Premier League returners and local rivals Leeds snatch a last-gasp 1-0 win at Bramall Lane seven days ago, Chris Wilder’s side are yet to pick up a single point entering October and are one of just three sides who are yet to get off the mark. Also last seen over the summer ending their own top-flight return with three defeats on the spin, there is no doubt that fans around Yorkshire will have a growing headache over their squad’s continued issues in front of goal. Yet to land a single strike in return since opening the New Year and hit with a 2-1 defeat when they hosted Arsenal on FA Cup duties back in June, we’re backing a similar outcome in the capital on Sunday.
