Arsenal have reached an agreement with Chelsea over the transfer of David Luiz, with the fee set at £8 million, according to BBC journalist David Ornstein.
The Brazilian’s time at Stamford Bridge has been rather interesting, as he had already left the club 2014 before returning two years later. Counting both stints, he has spent seven seasons in London, wearing the blue shirt 248 times in all competitions, and scoring 18 goals. In that time, he won one Premier League title, two FA Cups, the 2012 Champions League and two Europa League trophies.
Arsenal were in dire need of an experienced central defender even before captain Laurent Koscielny’s controversial departure became imminent, but after that it became absolutely imperative that they make a signing of that type. The 32-year-old Brazil international is now set to sign a two year contract with the Gunners, who are also hurrying to complete a deal for Celtic fullback Kieran Tierney before the transfer window closes today (Thursday) at 5PM BST.
