According to the Metro, Arsenal are readying a bid for Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff in the January transfer window.
Gourcuff has been a long-term target for Arsene Wenger and now he is ready to revamp his interest for him in the New Year.
Wenger is looking to add to his squad in January as at the moment, his team is struggling in the English Premier League and seem to need a bit of strength in depth if they are to reach the top four.
The Gunners’ hopes of signing the French international have been boosted as well, with the Ligue 1 side reportedly experiencing finical problems, which means they may have to sell one of their prized assets.
Lyon’s President Jean-Michel Aulas said: “If he (Gourcuff) returns to the highest level and he wants to go, then there could be a transfer”
Arsenal may face a fight on their hands to land Gourcuff though as Italian giants AC Milan are also keeping tabs on the Frenchman.
Milan are not performing well in Serie A right now and need to add to their squad in the New Year, much like Arsenal do.
The North London side are likely to use the money they received for Robin Van Persie and hope they have enough to lure Gourcuff away from Lyon.
We shall see.
