Arsenal and Barcelona are in talks over a swap deal involving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Philippe Coutinho, according to Sport, as related by Sport Witness. Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman is keen on signing a new striker following the injury to Sergio Aguero and the departure of Lionel Messi to Paris Saint-Germain.
Barcelona want to sign Gabon international striker Aubameyang from Arsenal and are willing to send former Liverpool attacking midfielder Coutinho to the Premier League in an exchange deal. The former Borussia Dortmund star is open to a move to Camp Nou, but Brazil international Coutinho – who can also play as a winger – must agree to the deal.
Aubameyang struggled to score regularly last season and is also 32 years of age now. Coutinho has not had the best of times at Barcelona, and Arsenal could do with a new creative midfielder, as Emile Smith Rowe is the only senior attacking midfielder in the team.
