Arsenal manager Unai Emery will face tough competition in his efforts to reunite with Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega.
Emery worked with Banega in Spain – first at Valencia and subsequently at Sevilla – and is keen on bringing him to the Emirates in a bid to reinforce the midfield. With Aaron Ramsey on his way out of the club and Mesut Ozil getting increasingly unsettled, Emery is said to be exploring his options.
La Sexta reports that the Spaniard has made Ever Banega his transfer priority ahead of the January market but Radio La Red claim that Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors have also joined the chase for the Sevilla star.
The Copa Libertadores finalists have reportedly got in touch with the 30-year-old who is under a €20 million release clause. It is believed that Arsenal also made a concrete offer for the player and it remains to be seen whether Banega will follow his former manager to London.
