Talk Sport is today reporting that Schalke star Lewis Holtby has said it would be a ‘dream’ to play in the English Premier League, which has put Liverpool and Arsenal on red alert.
Holtby’s father is originally from England and it is thought he is a big admirer of the Premier League and could be open to a move in the summer transfer window when his contract runs out.
The 22-year-old was a key man in the Bundesliga sides superb 2-0 win at Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
He has been in superb form for the German outfit throughout this campaign as well, scoring three goals and making three assists in just eight league appearances.
The playmaker’s form has seen him earn a cap for Germany and he keeps enhancing his reputation as a very young and talented player.
Although Holtby has admitted that he would love to play in the Premier League one day, it is thought all his attention right now is with Schalke and he will hold contract talks with them to see if he can get a good deal.
If not, then he could be heading over to England next summer.
We shall see.
