French daily newspaper L’Equipe understands that Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool are locked in the battle for Monaco playmaker Thomas Lemar.
The attacking midfielder was not allowed to leave the club last summer as Monaco had already sold a number of key men, but he could soon realise a big club move.
According to L’Equipe, both Arsenal and Liverpool are seriously considering recruiting Lemar at the earliest opportunity.
The Gunners see the Frenchman as a potential successor to Mesut Ozil, who is widely expected to leave, and they already had several bids rejected for his services.
Meanwhile, Liverpool plan to make a move on Lemar when they sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, so this is definitely a story worth keeping an eye on.
