According to Bild, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng on a free transfer next summer. The former Manchester City central defender is out of contract at Bayern at the end of the season, and no new deal is in place.
Bild has claimed that German and European giants Bayern have decided not to renew Boateng’s contract, meaning that the 32-year-old will become a free agent next summer. Premier League duo Arsenal and Tottenham are monitoring the situation of the veteran centre-back and are interested in securing his services on a free transfer next summer.
Boateng has been on the books of Bayern since 2011 and has been a key figure in the success of the Bavarian giants over the years. During his time at the Allianz Arena so far, the Germany international has won the Bundesliga title eight times and the Champions League on two occasions. Boateng also won the 2014 World Cup with Germany.
