Arsenal beat Chelsea in an incredible encounter and City continue good form

In the early kick-off Manchester United claimed a 1-0 at Everton.

The home side started the stronger but it was the Champions who took the lead on 19 minutes.

Welbeck and Evra combined well before the latter produced a superb cross which found striker Javier Hernandez unmarked and the Mexican made no mistake from close range.

Everton dominated possession in the second half but never really looked like having the cutting edge to find a way past the Champions. United bounced back well from last weekends home hammering against Manchester City.

In the other early kick-off Arsenal won 5-3 at Chelsea in an amazing encounter. The home side took the lead in the 14th minute, Frank Lampard nodding home from Juan Mata’s left-wing cross.

The visitors were on level terms in the 36th minute. Aaron Ramsey played a superb ball through the Chelsea defence and found striker Gervinho, who slid the ball sideward’s to Robin Van Persie for an easy finish for the Dutchman.

Chelsea were back ahead on the stroke of half-time as John Terry prodded home from Frank Lampard’s corner. Arsenal were back on level terms again in the 49th minute as full-back Andre Santos calmly fired home after Aaron Ramsey had put the Brazilian in on goal. Chelsea keeper Petr Cech might have done better.

Arsenal gained the lead for the first time in the 55th minute. Theo Walcott lost his footing thirty yards from goal only to regain it and carry on his run, beat three Chelsea defenders and fire past Petr Cech.

Chelsea were back on level terms in the 80th minute Spaniard Juan Mata driving home a superb effort from just outside the penalty area, after Roman Lukaku blocked off full-back Andre Santos. Incredibly Arsenal retook the lead against the run of play in the 84th minute.

Striker Robin Van Persie took the ball around Petr Cech and slid home after a calamitous slip from John Terry in the centre of the Chelsea defence. The Dutchman completed his hat-trick in injury-time as the Gunners hit the home side on the counter-attack.

An amazing victory for the Gunners in one of the most incredible games this season. Arsenal will take a lot of confidence from this victory and Chelsea will be disappointed to have suffered a second straight league defeat.

Elsewhere Manchester City defeated Wolves 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium. City took the lead in the 52nd minute Edin Dzeko firing into an empty net after Sergio Aguero had pressurised Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey.

City doubled their lead in the 67th minute Alexander Kolarov firing in from close-range after Hennessey had palmed a Silva shot out to the full-back. In the 74th minute City conceded a penalty, centre-back Vincent Kompany bringing down Kevin Doyle and the Belgian given his marching orders.

Substitute Stephen Hunt made no mistake from the resulting spot kick. Wolves pushed for an equaliser but couldn’t find one and City secured all three points in the 91st minute through a curling effort from Adam Johnson.

City maintained their good start to the season. Wolves worked hard but just couldn’t compete with the quality of the home side.

Norwich came back from two goals down to grab a last gasp 3-3 home draw with Blackburn. The visitors took the lead on the stroke of half-time. Canadian winger Junior Hoilett fired a superb effort past John Ruddy in the Canaries goal.

The home side were back on level terms in the 53rd minute as striker Steve Morison volleyed home from just outside the penalty area. Rovers striker Yakubu gave his side the lead in the 62nd minute firing home from inside the penalty area.

Two minutes late Blackburn centre-back Christopher Samba headed home from a Morten Gamst Pedersen free-kick. Norwich got a goal back in the 82nd minute as Bradley Johnson’s shot deflected off Gael Givet and looped over the head of Paul Robinson.

And in injury-time Norwich won a penalty after Steven N’Zonzi was adjudged to have handled in his own penalty area. Canaries skipper Grant Holt made no mistake from the penalty spot. Blackburn boss Steve Kean will be furious with his side throwing away two points. Norwich will be content with the point after their late come back.

There was late drama at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland and Aston Villa drew 2-2. Villa took the lead in the 20th minute midfielder Stiliyan Petrov firing home a superb long range effort from outside the penalty area.

Sunderland were level on 38 minutes as youngster Connor Wickham fired a good effort into the far corner of the net. It looked like Villa had snatched maximum points in the 85th minute as defender Richard Dunne headed home from Petrov’s free-kick.

With just a minute remaining though Sunderland rescued a point. Sebastian Larsson’s cross headed home from close-range by midfielder Stephane Sessegnon. Despite conceding a late equaliser I think Villa will be the happier of the two teams after this result.

After a goalless first half Swansea claimed a 3-1 victory over Bolton at the Liberty Stadium. Bolton were reduced to ten men in the 48th minute as Ricardo Gardner was given a second booking for tugging back Swans winger Nathan Dyer.

Less than a minute later Swansea were ahead, Joe Allen scoring after being left completely unmarked in the Bolton penalty area. Swansea conceded a penalty in the 56th minute, former-Swansea midfielder Darren Pratley fouling Angel Rangel in the penalty area.

Striker Scott Sinclair then dispatched the spot-kick with ease. Bolton got a goal back in the 73rd minute Swansea striker Danny Graham putting through his own net. Graham slotted home in injury-time to confirm maximum points for the home side though after beating the Bolton offside trap.

Fulham claimed three valuable points with a 2-0 victory at struggling Wigan. The visitors took the lead on 42 minutes, midfielder Clint Dempsey tapping home from close-range from a setup by Bobby Zamora.

Fulham secured maximum points in the 86th minute Moussa Dembele slotting home cleverly from the edge of the Wigan penalty area. The victory was a much needed one for the away side. Wigan are now bottom of the Premier League.

Liverpool eased to a 2-0 victory at West Brom. Liverpool won a penalty in the seventh minute as striker Luis Suarez was brought down by Jerome Thomas in the penalty area. Reds midfielder Charlie Adam made no mistake with the resulting spot kick.

On the stroke of half-time Liverpool doubled their lead. Striker Andy Carroll poking home after being put through on goal by strike-partner Luis Suarez. West Brom were lacklustre and Liverpool took advantage.
