Arsenal have submitted a bid for Thomas Partey of Atletico Madrid, according to the Daily Express.
The Gunners have been contemplating their central midfield as one of the areas that needs improvement. Quite apart from that, the futures of Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira have been brought into question more that once, while they still face uncertainty over the loan of Dani Ceballos being made permanent upon its expiration.
Manager Mikel Arteta recently told Sky Sports that the club are preparing for three possible scenarios when it comes to incoming transfers, which are expected to decide the amount of their activity in the market. Thomas has long been linked with the North Londoners, and it seems they’ve finally decided to take concrete action and submitted a bid of £43 million for the 26-year-old’s services.
As for Atletico, they are reportedly hopeful that the midfield powerhouse will put his name on a new contract, one that is already on the table for him to consider.
