“Arsenal are looking for a winger, but do not have the money to buy him. If they are considering to take him on loan, he will have to take a pay-cut, because he earns around 180,000 euros a week. It’s a lot of money.
“It’s difficult for him to find a new club when he’s on big wages. I think that will run until the last days of the transfer window, where some clubs become desperate, and maybe Arsenal will be one.”
Those are the words of Belgian football expert Kristof Terreur, who has implied that Arsenal may not be able to afford Yannick Carrasco’s wages. He’s currently over in China playing for Dalian Yifang, where he is believed to be earning a massive €180,000 a week.
That won’t come as all too much of a surprise given the finances being thrown around over there, but it’s certainly interesting to note that once players have indeed tasted the riches of Chinese football, it’s difficult for them to come back over to Europe if they aren’t considered to be a true world class star.
