Premier League strugglers Arsenal have joined the race for Cruzeiro hotshot Lucas Silva, Spanish daily newspaper Marca can reveal.
Real Madrid are widely believed to be leading the chase for the talented footballer as they have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old footballer.
However, los Blancos have had their latest bid of €12 million rejected as Cruzeiro are holding out for €15 million.
According to Marca, Arsenal have moved to the front of the queue by matching the club’s asking price, but they have yet to persuade the youngster to snub Real Madrid and move to the Emirates instead.
Having just helped Cruzeiro win the league title, Lucas Silva is widely regarded as one of Brazil’s hottest prospects and he is almost certain to move to Europe this winter.
And as things stand at the moment, Arsenal and Real Madrid will be locked in the battle for the midfielder’s signature.
