Catalan daily newspaper Sport understands that Arsenal are ready to join the chase for Espanyol goalkeeper Francisco Casilla.
Following some impressive displays in Spanish La Liga, the 27-year-old is widely tipped to leave los Periquitos for greener pastures this summer.
And while Real Madrid appear to be leading the race at the moment, Espanyol are adamant no agreement has been reached with their league rivals.
This is why Arsenal plan to steal Casilla from under Real’s noses as the Gunners aim to sign a quality goalkeeper to challenge Wojciech Szczesny for a starting berth.
Espanyol have been referring interested sides to the player’s €20 million release clause, but chances are they will consider any serious offer.
Despite only making 74 La Liga appearances, Casilla is rated highly by a number of top European sides, and it appears his current employers are ready to cash in on their star player provided the price is right.
