According to Marca, Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks over the possible signing of Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer. The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from Germany for quite some time now, but some fans may be somewhat surprised to learn that the Emirates could wind up being his final destination.
Whilst Petr Cech has supposedly committed himself to staying and fighting for his job in North London, this potential move would suggest that he’ll be forced to look elsewhere for a new club. With Ospina also reportedly on the way out it seems as if Sommer is being brought into the fold as competition for Bernd Leno, who also recently signed with the Gunners.
New manager Unai Emery certainly hasn’t been wasting any time when it comes to fixing the issues at hand in the goalkeeper position, and it’ll be interesting to see how things shape out in the weeks to come.
