Arsenal Technical Director Edu has made contact with the representatives of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez and wants to sign him in the summer transfer window, according to Football.London. The Gunners have the 22-year-old Uruguay international striker on their shortlist.
Nunez is one of the best young strikers in Europe and has been playing well for Benfica this season. The striker has scored 20 goals and given two assists in the Portuguese league and four goals in the Champions League so far this campaign. Benfica are third in the Portuguese Primeira Liga at the moment with 61 points from 27 matches.
Arsenal could need as many as three new strikers in the summer transfer window. The Gunners did not replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when the Gabonese moved to Barcelona in the January transfer window, and Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are out of contract at the North London club at the end of the season.
